Vegetarianism - The absolute need of hour

When Hajrat Junaid was moving for Baghdad’s Qaaba (the holy piligrim ), he saw an injured dog on his
way. The dog was badly affected by some accident as it was not even able to move and was struggling
for life. At first stroke Hajrat thought to abandon it there, but very soon changed his thought and
decided to give aid to him. There was no source of water in the near vicinity, so he carried the dog
with him and after walking for miles, could find a well. Then, he cleaned its wounds by water and also
helped to drink water with the help of vessel made of his clothes ,provided he had only one pair of
that. When dog became conscious, Hajrat decided to move to Qaaba, suddenly an akashwani took
place,” You have saved the life of one of my creatures, so your Haj is already accepted. Now it’s your
will, whether you come or not……….”

The reason to describe this bold lettered anecdote (for sure, a real one) swirls exclusively around
humanity. I, often doubt whether god really listens to them who kill (directly or indirectly) animals just
to feed their stomach. Yes, turning to vegetarianism is the absolute need of the hour…

Adding to the point of humanity, I I believe there is no single religion in the world which allows any
form of violence or more precisely killing, it could only be allowed in the case of “self defence” (the only
justification behind the Mahabharata), so how could this mass killing be justified???

The Christ himself has written in the Bible, “Thou shall not kill”, which was wrongly interpreted as, “Thou
shall not murder”……as the term murder is associated with the humans only, whereas killing is more
generalized……

Sir Paul McCartney of Beatles said-

If slaughter houses would have glass walls, nobody in the world would be non-vegetarian…..

Human beings are the best example of opportunist, i.e. they mould each and every statement and
activity in their favor .e.g. every non vegetarian can publish a book regarding 1000 reasons- why you
should turn non vegetarian….

Few of those selfless reasons are-

We are contributing towards balance of food cycle, as if we won’t kill these animals for their
flesh, they may be fatalist to the existence of entire mankind……

We eat vegetables, or more precisely another form of living beings’ so even consuming them
would make you considerably paap ka bhagidar….

How could those people survive who reside along coastal areas, as their main food is sea
food……

How could you sharpen your brain or increase your potency without consuming non vegetarian
food?

Well, I am not claiming to convince all the flesh eaters, but I think that a simple logic and a meager dose
of humanity can satisfy the aforesaid queries…

Well, I think if one is really concerned about the Mother nature’s food chain balance ,they must
first look into the enormous amount of energy or water needed to produce 1 Kg of animal flesh,
in comparison to any type of grain, wouldn’t it create any kind of imbalance??

We cannot consume anything which is non living being (except those, who consume things like
glass, wood, steel – for sake of some sort of record making), as far as spiritual perception is
considered- yes, it will be considered as a crime, but in comparison of animal killing-an infinitely
simile one; which can be regretted…

In this era of globalization, the popular items of regular use (vegetarian food items is certainly
one of them) could be found across the globe, only if you wish to do so…….and one more
question, are all the dwellers of plain areas consume strictly vegetarian food? Certainly, not so..

Even if we look into the animal kingdom, the most powerful and sharp creatures lie in this cadre,
e.g. elephant, rhinoceros, horse.

Well, my concern is not to initiate the debate called vegetarians vs non-vegetarians (which I believe is
endless), I simply expect from all the philanthropic non-vegetarians to give a second thought to their
food habits.

Torch bearers of 2012

The new way to spend the monotonous Sunday morning (specially,in the recent urban Indian context which invariably includes the morning as leisure sleeping hours) as actor Aamir Khan makes his TV debut through Satyamev Jayate (the entire team pf SMJ -my first torch bearer, and the special thanks to brainchild of the show ,Aamir “the ace” Khan, for sure) ; a clear thumbs up from maximum populace. This weekly show show is actually  an individual and well planned social initiative, which represents the social issues and their possible solutions in its own way… but could anybody other than Aamir Khan could dare to take such a step, clearly  not an easy choice for the comfort loving elite,,,,,isn’t it? Right from its inception, it gathered some imposed reactions also ,as aparticular cadre is continuously trying its best that a few amendments could make the show impeccable. I think in these many things, people generally ignore the time constraint, which is a crucial factor…. It is next to impossible to consider all the necessary issues to include in that one hour show, with complete detail, therefore it must be treated as a well researched overview, of any given problem…which covers the careful case studies, national data, cause, ray of hope and possible solution……
I specially liked the manifestation of different issues with different levels of sensitivity, e.g. the very first female foeticide has made almost every viewer cry, the second case of child abuse episode was complimented with a sensible child counselling ,so that they could protect themselves and the latest dowry issue that contained a super bold sting operation, which eventually made everybody laugh and filled with spirit …
Music is proved as a  cardinal tool, from the theme song (by romanticization of the patriotic feelings, Prasoon Joshi  makes it truly  incredible and close to heart) to the latest “rupaiyya”(the  feelings of a 21st century woman, who seeks no sympathy from society and can tackle her issues ) songs helped greatly to present the idea and the matter of fact that, they are very original and Indian, both…

The next gentleman in my list,is Alex Paul Menon; collector of Sukma (Naxalite affected area), who was recently abducted by Naxalites  as he was visiting a nearby village on a motor bike with a noble intention to help the villagers, without any formal security (although, I am not supporting this casual move and he must take care from the very next time)-represents the unique features of a dashing and audacious administrative officer. His example reminds me of the very dialogue “IAS bankar desh ki sewa karna chahta/ chahti hu .“ Every year the most talented brains of this country cross the most onerous hurdle  to become the most powerful bureaucrats, but how many of them actually carry the courage like Mr.Menon, who even after this mishappenning ,is committed to serve Sukma as earlier and has better plans than before. Recently, when I read his interview excrepts in The Hindu, I was moved by is noble thoughts, that he taught them Naxalites to cook food and realized the deficiencies at their place. I believe we need more officers like him, which have such high standards of righteousness.
My idea is not to degrade any particular profession, I strongly believe that these powerful bureaucrats in considerable numbers can create the major difference, only intentions are needed to serve-be it your country or be it your own pocket, the choice is yours…………
My next pick is once again from the idiot box, but contrastingly creating some milestones which are not so idiotic…. The TV serial which recently completed 1000 episodes(only few have managed to attain this) the only serial which was never indulged into kitchen politics and has retained it social motto still alive right from inception i.e. “Balika Vadhu”. Makers have always tried to put some genuine issues in the remote Rajasthan village, in front of the viewers (most of the real ones still prevalent in village side) .The biggest USP of the show lies in the change of mindset of the orthodox generation as the characters have  witnessed some major transformations till date . The most noticeable one is of dadi-sa, the once conservative lady with her authoritative rule ,has changed herself by 180 degrees and now turned into an adorable and open minded matriarch to family, who is equally caring to the females. The point is no that whether the concept is quixotic or not, the bottom line is that even if this is not a true story, we desperately need some imaginative ideas like this.My best wishes to the makers, I wish that the serial stick to is real purpose and end with the certain dignity.

The aforesaid are not the only examples but the common thread is that they are the most recent ones. The message that I want to deliver is that only intention matter or more precisely “jazba”, if you have that spark to stand against the odds, you will derive your own idea, barring all the social, economical or gender constraints ,just  any common citizen can contribute his bit to the society..

ढाई आखर प्रेम के

I once asked a bird, ”How is it that you fly in this gravity of darkness?”
She responded, “Love lifts me.”

WHAT IS LOVE?????....
Love is nothing but the unconditional form of the presence of almighty himself. God resides in every single creature of this world and to realize this universal truth one needs to experience his presence, which could only be possible thru love.
Although, it sounds pretty simple, “to love everyone”…
But this beautiful form of prayer is quite rare and exceptional..
In this physical world everything is compared and measured along with wealth, and more precisely, I should say with knowledge also….
Love whenever selfless and divine wins over knowledge/wealth, ….
I have one beautiful incident from Bhagwat-Gita regarding Udhhav’s(lord Krishna’s cousin) realization for love-
Udhhav was the disciple of deities’ teacher Brahaspati, he received knowledge par excellence and was very proud of this, when lord Krishna realized this fact, he decided to break his ego. He created an act and told him to go to Gokul and free Gopis from the emotion of his  affection.
Udhhav went Gokul with Krishna’s message and tried to deliver them, that they should pray the formless love of the divine but Gopis told him that they are delighted by the pain in separation which they feel due to their deep love for Kanhaiya. They told him that being illiterate they are not interested in the knowledge side of attainment for almighty, they rather argued that how could one feel that completeness in achieving the divine form of god ,if he has never ever loved before……
Then they took him near Radha, who has stopped even talking after Krishna left Gokul and could not even cry, due to the promise taken by her lord…
At this place Udhhav saw that Sri Krishna was himself sitting with Radha and this eventually broke the ego of Udhhav, as he could finally realize the essence of LOVE…..
May be in this selfish era, people have stopped loving each other and there is always a particular motive behind…..
Selfless love will be perpetual and definitely, the driving force behind every single sequence, until we widen our outlook for the people in our surrounding,we cannot claim to live life in its fullest way-

As it is said in a neeti shlok that those "who are generous, have love for everybody and assume entire world as their family"-

     उदार चरितानं तु वसुधैव कुटुम्बकं
